Light Rail 2020 (Canberra) and Go Mobility (Irun) on March agenda

LIGHT RAIL 2020 in Canberra and Go Mobility in Irun. Our colleagues Xabier Larrea and Txomin Nieva as speakers in Energy Storage conferences.

ARA Rail Light 2020

CAF will participate as a main sponsor at the ARA (Australasian Railway Association) Light Rail 2020 that will be held on 4 and 5 March in Canberra (Australia).

The trade fair will be attended by vehicle and component manufacturers from the sector and we will have the opportunity to learn about the most recent case studies.

On March 5th, at 9:50, our colleague Xabier Larrea, OESS Product Manager, will be the speaker for the presentation Sustainable Innovation in Power and Automation: On Board Energy Storage Systems (OESS) in Light Rail, where he will talk about the journey and experience with energy storage systems in trams at CAF Power & Automation.

CAF Power & Automation and LR in Canberra

Canberra is the city hosting this event after the successful launch of the light rail network in Australia's capital.

The project was awarded to the consortium formed by CAF and seven more international companies to build the city's new light rail network, which currently consists of twelve kilometres and thirteen stops.

CAF Power & Automation participates in this project by supplying the 75O VDC traction systems and the COSMOS TCMS control system for fourteen five-car vehicles from the URBOS range.

Operation of the light rail line from Gungahlin to Canberra started on 20 April 2019. During the first three months it carried more than a million passengers.

After the success of this route, the ACT (Australian Capital Territory) Government is progressing with the second stage and is building a new light rail line, with an overhead wire-free design proposed.

Go Mobility

Likewise, on 11 and 12 March the second edition of Go Mobility will be held at Ficoba (Irún), where the CAF Group will participate as an exhibitor.

On the 12th, at 13.00, Txomin Nieva, director Product Development, will take part as a speaker at the “Energy storage and batteries, opportunities for Europe in the field of electrical mobility” round table (El almacenamiento de energía y las baterías, oportunidades para Europa en el campo de la movilidad eléctrica, in Spanish).

At this talk they will explain the measures of the strategic action plan to build a battery value chain in Europe, and the work of several companies in this field.
